< Construction of tooth using cell sheet technology >

Cell sheet technology is a method that applies the cultured cells onto the biodegradable scaffold for the use of regeneration therapy that recover the tissue damaged by incurable disease. We are attempting to apply this technology for making a transplantable bioengineered organ. For this purposes, we are developing a cell sheets technology which can form part of the tooth architecture such as enamel, dentin and periodontium as a model. Arrangement of cell array which observed in developing tooth would be reproduced by cell sheet technology using tooth germ derived progenitors. Application of these technologies enables us to make transplantable bioengineered tooth with short period.
