< Development of novel therapeutic medicine for the treatment of periodontal disease >
Periodontal disease causes dysfunction of periodontium supporting tooth function, and consequently leads to tooth loss. Susceptibility to periodontal disease is increasing among the elderly, therefore it is defined as a lifestyle-related disease in which impairs the oral function. To develop novel therapy which restores tissue damaged by periodontal disease, we have searched molecules that promote regeneration of periodontal tissue. Based on these results, we will develop novel therapeutic medicine not only for the treatment of periodontal disease, but also for contributing quality of life supported by oral function.
